• Singing Classes

At Speech Drama Dublin we offer singing classes for adults and children in South Dublin, including Adult Choral Singing Classes and Musical Theatre.  We offer quality instruction and small class sizes at affordable prices (€12 per class) in numerous locations in Dublin & Wicklow.  Read on to learn more!

    Adult Choral Singing
Aimed at those who love to sing and who are interested in making amazing sounds in a group setting.  We will start with a 6-week course, brushing up on vocal technique and learning several songs (popular, musical theatre, contemporary, or classic rock!) in harmony. This is just the beginning…

We hope this class is the foundation for something bigger.  After the initial 6-week course, we will invite students to stay on and form a show choir under the guidance of the voice teacher.  From there, the sky is the limit!  We will take part in recitals, competitions, meetups, and anything else to do with choral performance.

    Who is this for?

This is for anyone who can sing and who is interested in meeting fellow music lovers.  You don’t need any formal training or performance experience, but a keen interest in singing and an “ear” for music are important!  We will run through the basics of singing technique in the first class, after which you should feel comfortable and confident holding a tune with your fellow singers.  Ability to read music is not a requirement.

    How much?  When?  Where?

The initial 6-week course costs €62. The course will take place on Wednesday evenings from 8.30-9.30pm at the Taney Parish Centre in Dundrum.  After completion, if you choose to join the show choir, there will be a one-off basic membership fee to cover the cost of room rental, music copies, marketing, and other expenses.  We promise to keep it as low as possible!

    Why join??….

Did you know that singing has a positive benefit for your physical and mental health. According to the Association of Irish Choirs, an average of 95% of singers report that “singing positively affects quality of life”

Group singing has been scientifically proven to lower stress, relieve anxiety, and elevate endorphins.

Singing in a choir is a truly magically experience, which will leave you feeling rejuvenated and elated through the release of endorphins that occurs when you sing.

However don’t just take our word for it – here are the links to a couple of interesting articles on how singing can improve your mental health!

    Junior Singing Classes Ages 6 – 12

While singing is very enjoyable and a great way for children to make new friends and socialise it has many more benefits.

Singing helps children develop listening & co-operation skills, co – ordination of the tongue & lips, gross & fine motor sklls, self control, concentration & memory skills.  Not only that but children learn more easily through singing – am sure everyone can remember the ABC song? There is also strong evidence that it encourages language and brain development skills.

Here is a link to some research done by Sing Up an English Singing Programme which highlights the main benefits – Sing up Research.
