About the Workshop

This is a one-day intensive version of our popular six-week Level 1 Pronunciation Course, designed for non-native English speakers who want to improve the clarity, confidence and naturalness of their spoken English.

Whether you use English professionally, socially or academically, clear pronunciation can have a significant impact on how confidently you communicate and how well you are understood.

This practical workshop focuses on the foundations of English pronunciation. We explore the key elements needed to develop clearer, more natural speech, helping you understand not just what sounds to produce, but how English works as a spoken language.

Unlike many other languages, English relies heavily on vowel sounds, mouth placement and stress patterns to convey meaning. Small changes in pronunciation can make a big difference to clarity and confidence.

Throughout the day, participants have the opportunity to practise new skills through interactive exercises, scripts, reading activities and conversation tasks in a supportive and encouraging environment.

What You Will Learn

• The International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) and how it can support independent learning

• Single vowel sounds

• Double vowel sounds (diphthongs)

• Triple vowel sounds (triphthongs)

• Consonant sounds and common pronunciation difficulties

• Mouth placement and articulation techniques

• Understanding the difference between voiced and unvoiced sounds

• Word endings and improving clarity

• Common pronunciation patterns in English

• Building confidence through practical speaking activities

• Strategies to continue improving your pronunciation independently

A Practical and Supportive Workshop

This is not a lecture-style course. Participants actively take part throughout the day using practical exercises designed to help them hear, understand and produce English sounds more accurately.

You will receive personalised feedback, opportunities to practise in a supportive setting and practical tools that can be immediately applied to everyday conversations, the workplace and academic settings.

By the end of the workshop, you will have a greater understanding of how English pronunciation works and increased confidence in your ability to communicate clearly and effectively.

Workshop Structure

This is a highly interactive day, combining guided exercises, listening work, and speaking practice in a supportive environment.

Participants will have the opportunity to practise throughout the day and receive feedback to help refine their pronunciation and fluency.

Important Information

Please note this is an interactive workshop, and participants will be encouraged to take part throughout the day.

What Our Customers Say

“I am currently at Level 2 of the Pronunciation course with Sarah and I am really enjoying it. The subjects covered are really helpful and reflect real conversations with native speakers. It really helps with understanding some of the more difficult aspects of pronunciation, and the practice with Father Ted scripts makes the lessons really enjoyable and engaging.”
